Beuguinage European Cushion Covers

Our intriguing Beugiuinage Tapestry Cushion Cover depicts the houses of the same name. These houses were built in the mid-1300s to house the Beguines, or pious Catholic women who dressed and lived the life of nuns without having taken official vows. They communed in small urban compounds. The scene depicted here is one of a building on the left and bridge over the river opposing it.
